Our Lynx Balance Board is not only a piece of great sports equipment or beautiful furniture for your home. It can also support your weight training, yoga or any kind of sports. There are even tons of possible applications in physiotherapy, starting with prevention – in the form of muscle building and coordination – right through to proper physiotherapy and exercise physiotherapy.
In collaboration with Jakob who works at “PhysioJoy” in Graz, we have compiled some recommendations.
Please be aware, that you should talk about all routines with your physician or physical therapist, especially after injuries, and maybe perform the first exercises with their help. Don’t forget that only the correct execution of the exercises will lead to your desired outcome. If you do them incorrectly it could lead to serious injuries.
Lynxboard in Physiotherapy
There are tons of possible applications for the LynxBoard in physiotherapy. We want to present some recommendations:
- Leg axis training
- Increases inter- and intramuscular coordination
- Increases body tension and activation of the tonic muscles
- Aid for mobilizing the upper ankle joint
- Increases trunk tension
… to name just a few possible uses of the LynxBoard.
Listed here are a few examples from practice:
Mobilization of the upper ankle joint
Application:
Due to the incline, less active dorsal extension is required to get into the final movement
Description:
Limited dorsal extension, such as after prolonged immobilization with plaster or splint.

Activation of the tibialis posterior muscle
Description:
The unstable base enables the muscles, that build up the arches of the foot, to work reactively. A correctly adjusted leg axis is required.
Application:
- with bent / flat feet (talipes valgus/fallen arches)
- fracture in the midfoot (metatarsal) area
- injuries of the upper / lower ankle joint

Lunges
Front foot on the Lynx Balance Board, roll is positioned beneath the foot.
Description:
- promotes interaction between agonist andantagonist
- stabilization of the upper ankle joint
- high activity of the ischiocrural (hamstring) muscle groups
- leg axis training
Application:
- with bent / flat feet (talipes valgus/fallen arches)
- fracture in the midfoot (metatarsal) area
- injuries of ankle joint
- leg axis deviations
- weight training of the lower extremity
- operations on the lower extremity (cruciate ligament, arthroscopy, hip prosthesis)

Basic High Squat
Description:
- inter- and intramuscular coordination
- activation of the tibialis posterior muscle
- Leg axis training
Application:
- activation of the deep back muscles (increase with a barbell with „Good Mornings“)
- spine rehab
- coordination training
- strengthening of lower extremities
(knee / hip prosthesis)

Trunk stability
in the quadruped position / bridge belly
Description:
- gentle and safe starting position
- slight opportunities for improvement
Application:
- reactive muscle work on the ventral chain
- spine rehab
- shoulder injuries
- regression work (abdominal separation, diastasis recti)
- building up body tension

ABS Workout
Description:
- simple increase in intensity (the longer the distance, the more intense)
- good control of the starting position with short / long lever
Application:
- strengthening of the tonic and phasic muscles in the ventral chain
- spine rehab
- shoulder injuries
- regression work (abdominal separation, diastasis recti)
- expansion of body tension


There are countless ways to modify familiar exercises with the Lynx Balance Board or to increase the intensity of basic Lynx Balance Board exercises.
